35/100 - “What‘s New”
35/100 - “What‘s New”
You know I've been looking forward to this 100-day-challenge in terms of how my style might evolve, how much freedom creating an abstract series of this magnitude might bring and which self-imposed boundaries I will leave behind.
I didn't anticipate how fast I'd grow, though.
Every day I am playing in my studio (some would call it fighting, battling, really, based on the ever-deepening crease between my brows and my angry, plaint-splattered self working furiously) and today I actually worked on 12(!) pieces simultaneously?
I doubt I've ever worked on so many pieces at once before.
And changing my rhythm, shaking up my monotony and go-to's impacts so much more than just my studio practice. Each painting I create right now takes me several days, so I can't just concentrate on one at a time in order to deliver a unique new painting as promised to you daily. Which also means my focus is widespread and I have room to step back and look at everything as a whole. Not just this series but my life, my goals, my dreams as well. My plans, my future.
And it's scary.
It's scary to have this room to think and to express.
It's scary to know you can mess up.
But that's the artist life for you.
What else is new?
