98/100 - "Watching, not judging"
98/100 - "Watching, not judging"
I took acting classed when I grew up (because I wanted to be a world-famous actress, obviously) and the one coach we had once said: "Watch, don't judge". And she explained that when we are out and about, living our lives, we should watch the people around us. How they act, speak, move, dress, laugh, without judging a single thing. And this is so much harder than I thought. I didn't realize that I reacted to most people by instantly judging their actions. Just watching, observing the people around you is a quality I admire and still struggle with. It was supposed to open our eyes and make it easier to slip into different characters I suppose, maybe even empathize. But I wish I could just stop measuring people around me and stop being petty that way, comparing, judging. I guess realizing that I'm doing it is a good first step. Let's see how long it takes me to take another.
