Day 6 Painting 6

Cherry Blossom season in Seoul is beautiful, yet short. It seems like overnight, spring decided to bless the streets and the rose-colored petals sprang up all over the city. Couples wandering under the trees, cute pictures being taken, picnics and hikes to famous cherry blossom spots arranged... And all with a small urgency. With a wistfulness attached. For as beautiful and magical as this sight is, it is ephemeral. Once they bloom, cherry blossoms have a short lifespan and it is cut even shorter should heavy rain approach. I’m writing this to the sound of the pitter-patter of raindrops hitting the streets. The smell of petrichor hangs heavy in the air and everything appears hazy. When I look up towards the mountains where cherry blossom trees earlier lined the horizon, there is nothing left of that soft color now. All washed away. All gone. As fast as it came.
